WELCOME AND INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the Center for Women’s Health!  We appreciate you selecting us for your healthcare and look forward to developing a relationship with you that will last many years.

Our office is open from 8:15 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday other than over the lunch hour.  Please note the office is closed from 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm for lunch.

Our providers include two OB/GYN physician, Dr. Stewart Abbot and Dr. Michael Plotnick; three Certified Nurse Midwives, Marie Foose, Karen Vorderberg, and Krista O’Leary; and Bea Bachenberg, our Nurse Practitioner.  There will always be a physician and a midwife “on call” and available.  We try to accommodate your choice as much as possible; however, there may be times when your primary provider is not available and your call may be handled by a different provider.

Please call our office during regular office hours for all appointments and issues that are non-urgent.  If you have a medical question, your call may be returned by one of our medical assistants or our nurse who work in direct conjunction with our providers and can answer may of your questions.

If you need urgent care, please indicate this to the person you speak with on the phone so they can relay this information to your provider.  Patients needing urgent care can call our main office number (970-336-1500) 24 hours a day even when the office is closed.  Please inform the person you speak with that you feel your situation is urgent so they can relay this to the provider.  We make every attempt to answer those calls immediately; however, if you do not receive a return phone call in a timely manner, please call back.

Please schedule your appointments as far in advance as possible to give us the best opportunity to find a time that is convenient for you.  If you are unable to keep an appointment, we ask that you give us 24 hours notice so we can utilize that time for other patients who need to be seen.  If the nature of your visit is not routine, please make this clear to our receptionist to ensure she schedules adequate time for your appointment.  It can be difficult to deal with an involved or complex problem in the time typically allotted for a “routine visit”.

Due to the nature and unpredictability of childbirth and emergencies, scheduled appointment times must sometimes be changed to permit providers to deal with these situations.  If an emergency develops and we must change your appointment time, we will attempt to notify you as soon as we are aware of the issue.  We try hard to schedule patients appropriately to minimize waiting time as we understand your time is valuable, too.  However, we do occasionally run late and ask that you please be patient with us.  Let our receptionist know if any schedule delay will adversely impact you, and we will do our best to remedy the situation.

To help us provide the best service it is important that you bring a copy of your current insurance card to each visit.  Please inform the receptionist any time you have a change in insurance, address, phone, etc., so we are sure to have accurate information in your chart.
