Minimally invasive surgeries cause less blood loss and less trauma to tissues.  This allows for a quicker and easier recovery for the patient.  Laparoscopic procedures are done through small incisions 1-2 cm in length.  This means smaller surgical scars and less need for pain medication after surgery.

Laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy is a new procedure where the uterus is removed but the cervix is left intact.  With this minimally invasive procedure 95% of patients go home within three hours of surgery.  A few patients may require an overnight stay.  Most patients are back to normal activity within one week.
